Hi, I am Andy a 51 year old "former" Chartered Surveyor from Bournemouth UK, who got fed up with the rat race and packed up and moved to rural North East Thailand. I am now in my fourth year here and living on dwindling savings. About 18 months or so ago I discovered forex and have been studying hard since. I have tried various systems with limited success, but as my knowledge expands, so it seems to me that scalping is the approach to take, despite the widespread distaste for it on most of the forums. Anyway guys I have my tick chart loaded and I have embarked on what will be a steep learning curve. I hope I can learn even a little from you to help give me that all important edge.
Regards

Hi daxter I'm 1 year older and still in the rat race in the uk and trying my hardest to get out. Wish you the all the best with your learning curve and I'm sure you will learn much from traderAllen as I already have and hope to continue to do so. One day it would be nice to think I could contribute something others could use aswell as just take from here. Cheers.

Another half-century guy here! Good luck both and great words of encouragement Fxoutlier. Sounds like the go is to get into the Volman book and learn it by heart. And as Allen says, stick to the plan.

Thanks guys for the kind words of encouragement. The beauty of living here is the cost of living is so low. You can live comfortably here for just $1,000 a month.
With regards to forex, the beauty of living here is I can comfortably catch the opening sessions of all three markets. Tokyo at 7 am, London at 2 pm and New York at 7 pm.

The European open and the next two hours should give you some pretty good trading opportunities. Most of my trading is done from the New York open for the next two hours and 40 minutes. For the Asian markets myself I only trade news releases. Although there are times when there is significant volume for breakouts if I were to try to trade the Asian market I would probably be looking for inside the range trades.
